Varde is a town which is situated in Southwest Jutland about 15 km north of Esbjerg, with a population of about 13,000. From the beginning (in the Middle Ages) the name of the town appeared in two different versions Warwath and Warwick. The town has grown a lot over the years and is now visited as a popular place for vacation and tourism since the North Sea is not far away from here.

The town was founded in the 12th century and has worked as a market town, since trading and crafting has always been connected to the town.

In the town there is a park, which is named Arnbjerg Parken. In the park there is one of Varde’s most visited attractions, namely Minibyen (the Mini-town). Here Varde has been recreated, as the town looked a. 1860 on a 1:10 scale.

There are many opportunities of being active, for example Ungdomsskolen, which isn’t a school, but more a club for the youth where they can develop their interests. In the sport centres of the town, there are great possibilities to do different kinds of sport and furthermore it is possible to swim and bowl in the sport-centre. In the weekends there is also a lively nightlife, where the young people are partying at the town’s discotheques.
